From the desk of Brenda Burnell, Fair Board President:

Another Fair has ended, and the Fair Board is already talking about our 2012 Fair!  If you didn’t know, our Board works year-round to make each Fair a success.  2011 proved to be a challenging Fair for all.  The weather was very hard on everyone - animal and human!  I want to commend all of our 4Hers and their parents for the care shown for the animals.  Each animal had lots of people keeping a close eye on them and helping out when needed.  This makes a great and successful Fair!

Another factor I want to touch on is our Sponsors.  The County and public really stepped up to help out in all aspects of the Fair.  We have great partnerships with our Sponsors, and that shows with the contributions we received from businesses and individuals.   We can’t say thank you enough to our Sponsor of the Day, sponsors of a barn and even the sponsors of our special events.  Again, a big thank you to all of our sponsors!

To end this quick note from myself, I would like to thank everyone who gave a little extra time, extra muscle, and extra effort to help keep our Fair one of the best in Indiana.  We all worked together and overcame every obstacle put before us.  For that I personally am grateful.   One thing I ask from everyone…If you were lucky enough to win in a project, please send a thank you to your plaque sponsors.  If you know someone or a business that helped sponsor an event or building, just mention that you knew they had helped and thank them.

Good luck to those going to State Fair and I hope everyone has a great school year!

From the desk of Brenda Burnell, Fair Board President:

The month of July is closing in on all of us at the Hendricks County 4H Fairgrounds and Complex Center very quickly! This means a lot of work and preparation for all of our events that are happening in July. Besides the usual events like weddings, meetings and conferences, our fairgrounds are hosting the National Powwow July 6th - 9th.   Our County and facility are very excited for the opportunity to show attendees how Hendricks County can host a huge event like this. Please try to make it out and check out everything this organization is bringing to us.

Let’s not forget our great County Fair that starts off with a Pre Fair Concert by Christian based performer Mark Lowry on July 16th. On Sunday July 17th, one of the best County Fairs in Indiana receives the green flag and “The Race is on” – our theme for this year.

This year’s schedule has been enhanced by our Fair Board and Staff with the addition of some new entertainment for all ages. Along with the entertainment, come check out the best bunch of 4Hers and their projects. Everyday there will be a different livestock show or competition, and indoor projects for viewing.

Hendricks County is proud of our Fair and of our youth. So….race you there!
